A ''senator'' is a full official member of the [[Senate (Nova Roma)|Senate]] of [[Nova Roma]].

''Senatores'' are appointed by the [[Censor (Nova Roma)|''censores'']]. The list of ''senatores'' is regularly revised during a '''census''', but ''senatores'' are only removed if they bring their dignity into disrepute.

A person who has held a [[Magistracies (Nova Roma)|magistracy with imperium]] will normally become a ''senator''. Present and former holders of higher magistracies are not necessarily ''senatores'' but have the right to participate in meetings of the Senate (the ''ius sententiae'') by virtue of their office.
