Cn. Iulius Caesar Praetor sal.

Ex officio. Moderation policy – Forum Hospitum

This list’s purpose is “specifically *not* intended for the discussion of the internal affairs and politics of the Nova Roma organization. Such discussions will not be permitted here.”

What follows is intended especially for the benefit of current citizens of Nova Roma who have joined Forum Hospitum, or former members (whether waiting re-admittance to citizenship or not). All current and new members of Forum Hospitum should be aware of this list policy however.

What is not permitted to be posted includes, but is not limited to, statements of resignation (actual or intended), discussions on who has resigned, why they resigned, where they went, the nature of other Roman themed groups, the broad scope of the history of these issues or anything even remotely connected to such matters. No political disputes or issues internal to Nova Roma will be permitted topics. This includes statements of candidates, endorsement, other election statements, election issues in general, discussion of proposed legislation, or any other business of, or matters affecting, the various comitia of Nova Roma.

Also included in the category of prohibited discussions is the moderation policy outlined here, the Conditions of Membership / Forum Rules issued by the Forum Hospitum List Manager, the purpose of this list or Praetorial decisions regarding moderation. Nova Roman citizens wishing to debate such matters are directed to the Main List. Also prohibited is advertising/recruiting/promoting of any sort, including for membership of unofficial lists.

The purpose of this list is “for discussions between those interested in ancient Rome, its values and its virtues including the influence that Rome as a global civilization had and continues to have on the modern world. We also welcome contributions on the current practice and development of Latin, and Roman values (or 'virtues')”.

Any members of this list who defy the Conditions of Membership / Forum Rules or the moderation policy outlined here or directions from List moderators and owners will be subject to an immediate minimum 15 day period of moderation. The actual number of days that a member may be moderated for such transgressions may be in excess of 15 days and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

If while under moderation status (either of the whole list or individually) a member submits a post that would, if posted, breach the Conditions of Membership / Forum Rules or the moderation policy outlined here or directions from List moderators and owners, then such posters will be liable to the sanction of moderation as if they had posted immediately to the list. The minimum period will be 15 days, if not already subject to that period, or if such posting occurs within a 15 day moderation period, then a minimum of one extra day of moderation for each post submitted that violates the Conditions of Membership / Forum Rules or the moderation policy outlined here or directions from List moderators and owners.

Excessive and/or continuing breaches of the list rules, in terms of number of violations, language, tone or content, could result in removal of the member responsible from this list, citizen or non-citizen alike.

If in doubt as to whether your intended post breaches Conditions of Membership / Forum Rules or the moderation policy outlined here or directions from List moderators and owners, either don’t post it or seek advice from the list moderators and owners.

For Nova Roman citizens on this list, a reminder this is NOT the Main List. There are different expectations here.
