To make a template appear in this category, add the following to the template:

<noinclude>[[Category:Templates]]</noinclude>

To prevent a template from appearing in other categories, surround any category statements in the template with:

<includeonly>[[Category:...]] ...</includeonly>

You can capture all categories in one "includeonly" set.

[edit] Alternative for simple templates

Put the functional part of the template inside

<onlyinclude>... </onlyinclude>

and leave

[[Category:Templates]]

outside.
