L. Furius Purpureo vowed a temple for Vediovis while fighting the Battle of Cremona (200 BCE) during which he defeated the Carthagininas under Hamilcar and their Gallic allies.  The temple was built on the [[Tiber Island|Insula in the River Tiber]].  It was then dedicated on 1 Janurary 194 BCE.
