Gaius Claudius Quadratus
Album Civium

C. Claudius Quadratus is a consular senator and the chief augur of the Nova Roman Republic. He is the proconsul of Canada. C. Claudius was head of state of Nova Roma on two occasions: once as tribunus militum consulari potestate, and another time as consul. He is not counted as consul twice, but in effect, he was president of the res publica twice.

In Sex. Lucilio C. Claudio P. Annaeo Q. Catulo tr. mil. cos. pot. MMDCCLXX a.u.c., he served as tribunus militum consulari potestate, one of the four special heads of state, to fight in the so-called Third "Civil" War of Nova Roma saving Nova Roma.

As special distinction in Nova Roman history, C. Claudius, with his colleague T. Domitius, presided over the 20th Anniversary Year of Nova Roma, the Sacred Year of Concordia, and over the Grand International Convention of Nova Roma in Rome, Italy, celebrating the 20th Anniversary, both consuls of Nova Roma being present in Rome for the first time in modern Roman history.

His contributions to Nova Roma are numerous, in a wide range of topics and types of activities, and it is the consensus of the best citizens that Claudius Quadratus is one of the most exemplary Nova Romans.

Besides his other talents, C. Claudius is the most experienced numismatic expert of Nova Roma. He is known as the organizer of many cultural contests where he generously offered real Roman coins out of his collection to the best contestants, and he is also notable for his yearly editions of Roman calendars and his annotated edition of the Res Gestae Divi Augusti. As a chess master, Quadratus also organized the first International Chess Championship in Nova Roma.

Since a few decades, C. Claudius Quadratus has been visiting Rome every year for a few weeks, which makes him almost as familiar with the Eternal City as Her inhabitants are. Quadratus is also a known for his cat shelter activism in the city of Rome, in Italy, where he is a long term patron and helper in taking care of the feral cats of the Largo Argentina district.
