A former faction within Nova Roma that ceased to exist around the year Fr. Apulo C. Laenate cos. ‡ MMDCCLVIII a.u.c.. Its name was modelled on the ancient Roman boni (Latin, "good men") which was a political faction of the late Roman Republic, also called the Optimates.
The Boni of Nova Roma were a lose faction, without any strictly defined political ideology or vision, but they claimed to be committed to the strictest possible reconstructionism of the mos maiorum and the Roman religion. In practice, many of their members did not know Roman history and Roman studies well enough to know what to do and what to think about Roman reconstructionism, and this faction had, besides some true Roman characters, some of the least Roman elements of Nova Roma, as well.
The faction received much criticisms about most of its leading members being too rude, aggressive and often relying on bullying on forum discussions, and it gained a bad name for the faction and its members. The label "Boni" was often used about anyone who showed signs of similar behavior, and some citizens referred to the Sulla-Caesar Faction as "Boni" for this reasons, and because there was some overlap between the membership of the two.
