HISTORY

The Praetorium is the government of Provincia America Hispanica. It consists of the governor and his appointed assistants and advisors. The Legati are executive officers appointed by the senate (or governor with authority to do so) who, have the authority to act on the behalf of the governor within their sphere of competence and delegation. The Sacerdos Provinciae shares ritual responsibility for the cultus Deorum within the province. The term Praetorium also refers to the provincial capital, which is ceremoniously and symbolically established in the city of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

D. Aurelius Ingeniarius
Propraetor Americae Hispanicae

Edictum 75.01 - Edictum tralaticium de Americá Hispanicá

I. I. In my capacity as Praetor Americae Hispanicae, bestowed upon me by the Senate under senatus consultum de praesidibus provinciarum, with the authority granted to me under the lex Cornelia Domitia de re publica constituenda, I may proclaim those edicta necessary to engage in those tasks which advance the mission and function of Nova Roma.

II. In accordance with the lex Arria de edictis, magistrates are required to confirm or revoke those edicta of their office predecessors before any new edicta can be issued. It is with this edictum that I consider the past legislative history of this province.

III. Current records of edicta for the region are sparse and this region has undergone many changes in the last decade. Previously called Provincia America Austroccidentalis, it started as a smaller region before taking in more of the surrounding regions. It is with this information, and considering the new era of growth for Nova Roma, that I will rescind all previous legislation and start anew.

IV. As my first decree, I appoint Gaius Sempronius Pellio as scriba, 4th rank official, to the cohors praetoria of America Hispanica. His appointment may be known by various names but he will fulfil the role of ‘general staff’ and perform various duties as directed. No oath of office required.

V. This edict and the respective appointed positions referred hereinto, remain in effect until rescinded or superseded.

Datum pr. Non. Dec. ‡ Sex. Lucilio (II) A. Tullia (II). December 4, under Sex. Lucilius' 2nd and A. Tullia's 2nd consulship.

D. Aurelius Ingeniarius
Praetor Americae Hispanicae

If he should cease to be the praefectus legionis of that legion, he will still retain his position as legatus proconsulis militaris until such time as he resigns or is removed from office by the proconsul.
