Just for the record, my giving them my boss's email address was a
joke. I'm not that mean spirited (not that there are times I'm not
tempted....). Like you, I have a special free web mail account for
spam.

Salve, Festus.

As I was taught these things:

Monday = Måndag = Månens dag = Day of the moon
Tuesday = Tisdag = Tyrs dag = Day of Tyr (Norse god of war)
Wednesday = Onsdag = Odens dag = Day of Oden (Norse ruler of gods)
Thursday = Torsdag = Tors dag = Day of Tor (Norse god of thunder)
Friday = Fredag = Frejas dag = Day of Freja (Norse godess of
reproduction)
Saturday = Lördag = Lögaredagen = Washing day
Sunday = Söndag = Solens dag = Day of the sun

Syntax:
<English name> = <Swedish name> = <From the Edda> = <Edda translated to
english>

I don't think us pagans up north ever bothered with Saturn, since we
don't use that name for that day. Just fear the vikings. :)

No, I'm not a norse pagan, or what that would be called. This is what I
was taught as I grew up, and what I remember from reading a few books,
including the Edda by Snorre Sturlason.

Vale, Titus Octavius Pius.

Eheu! That was my typo, me paenitet! As Consul Marcus Octavius
Germanicus rightly pointed out, the election results were 27 tribes,
I simply made a typo in transferring the figures to my election
notes. I have shared the details of the tribes voting with Consul
Lucius Cornelius Sulla to verify.

I suppose I may be allowed one mistake a day, but that was a big one.

Salvete omnes:

I've been put in the moderator list since the beginning of the election
campaign, and this is the second time I ask why am I in the moderator list.

There were nasty things in the list, of people insulting people, and of
extremist views that alienated good people etc..yet I am the one being
moderated.

Last time, I was told that I am not being moderated but if my posts take
at least 5 minutes to show on the list and as many hours depending on the
timing, and if I'd post late at night it doesn't show til morning, that
means I am being moderated. And since I've never been censured I don't
understand the purpose, and I think my record shows that I've always been a
Roman and a Gentleman. Please take me off that least. It isn't right,
because you're scrumbling my formats when you do that.

Thank you.

Salvete,

As strange as it may seem, I have just learned that someone is impersonating
me by sending emails using a non-existent New Zealand email address. So far
this has happened only within the Pagan Federation and not Nova Roma.

I am used to this sort of attempt at intimidation :-) Being a 'Public pagan'
leaves one an easy target from disgruntled fellow pagans as well as
followers of other religions.

So if anyone receives any private emails from me, and has even the slightest
doubt about whether or not I am the originator of the message, please let me
know.

Salve, Titus Octavius Pius

I guess I should have remembered the German names for the days of the week when I commented. They're roughly the same as English except for Wednesday (Mittwoch, mid-week), Tuesday (Dienstag), and Saturday (Samstag) [They're Sonntag, Montag, Dienstag, Mittwoch, Donnerstag {"Donner"="Thunder", Thor is God of Thunder}, Freitag, Samstag].

The point being, an argument could certainly be made that Saturday didn't have a set name until well after German and English split, and Norse religions were no longer as influential on culture.

So my gut appears to have been right, "Saturday" isn't a Norse (religion) coinage.

You'll receive an e-mail informing you when taxes for
next year are due. I'd recommend you wait until you get
that, so as to not have what you send in now be counted
as an extra donation for this current year. My recollection
of how the process went the last time is that notices went
out in February.
