Ah, I understand. Yes, I've seen those posts. Since I live
further south in the province (in Maryland) I haven't replied before
this. I don't have a complete map of where our citizens are located,
but my recollection is that they are concentrated in NJ and the
MD/NoVA regions.

Good luck getting folks together. You might think about asking in
the various Sodalities too. There are a lot of people who avoid
the mainlist but are active in the sodalities.

With gratitude and humility I accept your endorsement. I think you
would have made an excellent praetor and I believe it is a loss to
the Republic that you will not be elected.

To all those citizens who voted for Drusus and to all other voters, I
ask for your support. I intend to live up to your trust if elected.
This coming year will be an important one for Nova Roma, one that
will bring many challenges to the office of Praetor and to our
Republic. I believe I am up to the task. I ask for your vote.

Salvete Omnes,

It is my great pleasure to announce that Nova Roma has three new members of
the Priesthood.

Gaius Iulius Iulianus (ivlianvs309@yahoo.com) is the new Flamen Florealis of
Nova Roma. Gaius Iulius was one of the first modern "Romans" in the US, and
has been practicing the Religio Romana for many years. It was through him
that Germanicus and myself first met, so it can be said that he had some
responsibility for the founding of Nova Roma. He is both knowledgable and
pious to the Gods, and I have every confidence that he will make an excellent
Flamen!

NEW SACERDOS MINERVAE
Gaius Minucius Hadrianus

Gaius Minucius Hadrianus (shinjikun@shinjikun.com) has been active in Nova
Roma since 2000, and has done fine work both on the provincial and the
international level. He has participated in many discussions and events, and
has created an online temple to Minerva. I have been fortunate enough to meet
Hadrianus in person, and am sure that he will do an excellent job in his new
priesthood.

Diana has shown herself to be very knowledgable, and I am sure she will do

Salve Postumii Tuberte:

What I was, really, trying to bring up is the question of how we are
using names the modern way whereas we want to be Romans. A Roman identifies
himself with his family, gens. And Roman society was structured around
families, and we have the gens system precisely because of that.

Thank you for your input. It is appreciated.

I don't know if you are or not, since I'm not a moderator of
this list. But since I own another one, I'll mention that Yahoo
has been having some hiccoughs of late, and posts have gone astray
only to appear days later. It's possible your posts are getting

Salve Marine, and thank you for the input.

I noticed that moderated messages tend to come out scrambled. You set
them up nicely, and they come out oddly shaped and with one word lines, and
it started happening to my posts a few days ago. First I thought maybe they
got somebody new, but I posted a few messages since and it was still on
except for the last post in which I complained about it, and now I am trying
to think what to write to make this post long enough for a test.

Thank you again.

Salve, Galeri Peregrinator--

No, you aren't being moderated. I think the problem
you're experiencing (If you post your messages from
the YGroups website) is that the text area dimensions
at the YahooGroups site are wider than they are in
some email clients. So, when your message appears in
your email reader, the longer lines are wrapped.

When I post from the YGroups site, I handle this
problem by inserting a carriage return before I get to
the point onscreen when the text area field shifts
leftward. That way, the dimensions of what I type
approximate the text area field of my email client,
and I avoid the long line/short line problem.

I hope that helps.

Subject: [Nova-Roma] RESULTS: Comitia Plebis Tributa
From: =?iso-8859-1?q?M=20Arminius=20Maior?= <marminius@yahoo.com.br>

Salvete, Quirites

The results in the Comitia Plebis Tributa have been
certified by the Rogatores.

Each candidate needed to win more than half of the
voting tribes, in order to be elected.

Each law needed to be aproved by more than half of the
voting tribes, in order to be enacted.

Since the plebeian Tribes are to small, the citizens
that voted in each tribe could be easily identified;
so the voting of each Tribe will not be published.

AEDILIS PLEBEIUS: - 33 Tribus voting, needed 17;
Lucius Arminius Faustus - won 33 Tribes;
Servius Labienus Cicero - won 1 Tribe (write-in);
Ioannus Eslavius Germanicus - won 1 Tribe (write-in).

Lucius Arminius Faustus is elected Aedilis Plebeius. A
new election will be necessary to fill the remaining
position.

TRIBUNUS PLEBIS: - 34 Tribus voting, needed 18;
Diana Moravia Aventina - won 25 Tribes;
Lucius Pompeius Octavianus - won 15 Tribes;
Lucius Didius Geminus Sceptius - won 15 Tribes;
Marcus Marcius Rex - won 12 Tribes;
Gaius Modius Athanasius - won 8 Tribes;
Gaius Popillius Laenas - won 7 Tribes;
Gaius Geminius Germanus - won 2 Tribes;

Diana Moravia Aventina is elected Tribunus Plebis (or
Tribuna?).
Another election will be needed to elect the four
remaining Tribunes.

LEGES:

Lex Salicia de Suffragiis, in Comitia Plebis Tributa:
34 Tribes voting: (need 18)
YES 24
NO 10

Lex Salicia de Tribunicia Comitiorum Convocatione: 33
Tribes voting: (need 17)
YES 30
NO 3

Both leges are enacted, and should be placed in the
Tabularium.

Many thanks to the Rogatores, and all candidates for
their willingness to serve in office.

Valete
Marcus Arminius Maior
Tribunus Plebis

Salvete Omnes,

It is my great pleasure to announce that Nova Roma has three
new members of the Priesthood.

Gaius Iulius Iulianus (ivlianvs309@yahoo.com) is the new
Flamen Florealis of
Nova Roma. Gaius Iulius was one of the first modern "Romans"
in the US, and has been practicing the Religio Romana for many years. It was
through him that Germanicus and myself first met, so it can be said that he
had some responsibility for the founding of Nova Roma. He is both
knowledgable and pious to the Gods, and I have every confidence that he will
make an excellent
Flamen!

NEW SACERDOS MINERVAE
Gaius Minucius Hadrianus

Gaius Minucius Hadrianus (shinjikun@shinjikun.com) has been
active in Nova Roma since 2000, and has done fine work both on the
provincial and the
international level. He has participated in many discussions
and events, and
has created an online temple to Minerva. I have been
fortunate enough to meet
Hadrianus in person, and am sure that he will do an
excellent job in his new
priesthood.
