Hahaha! Its a virtual Afganistan is what it is! I must point out that
we do have a couple things in common: we transend borders
and we wish to preserve a culture. I wonder if they understand
what Nova Roma is about and that it is a pagan state? We could
inform them of this and see if they are still interested in
diplomatic relations. If they are I think we would be the first
micro-alliance. Hehe! If they don't want to have anything to do
with us "infedels" nothing would be lost, so long as it doesn't
turn into some sort of an E-fight. I don't feel we should reject the
offer offhand, afterall, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

civis since, after checking the website www.virtualnation.org, we
seem to have nothing in common. In case there is a mutual
interest, please inform me about it. I hereby call the responsible
politicians and in the first place the consuls to stop this action.

Yes, I would have liked very much to know the status of my
application every step of the way. If you remember, for about a
full month I didn't know what was going on. I'm stubborn though,
so I kept pestering the Censors. :-)

Actually I was speaking for my own rules, Sarissa & Elephant. Also Arty
Conliffee's Armati.
I hate PIPS as a command system. It was Phil Barker's greatest folly, and I
told him that to his face this summer at Historicon.

Roman armor, is not going to be that affected by harder tempered swords to
give a huge advantage, and Roman weapons are going to be effective against
Norman unarmored destriers, so I don't see an overwhelming change in melee
power added to the Normans.
Their initial charge would impressive, but Roman legiones had stood up to
Catafractii charges before. If the initial charge failed to sweep the Romans
away, the Romans would gain the advantage in the resulting melee.

As for Aztecs being equal, that is a big flaw in those type of "all army"
rules. We are talking two different types of warfare here. The Aztecs were
fighting small ritualistic combats to obtain sacrificial victims for their
gods, the western way of war was to mass an army and seek a decisive battle.
It is easier to portray the latter, on the war-game table.
I'm working on a History Channel production this week, so my contacts will be
intermittent
