Salvete Omnes Cives Novae Romae!

Thank you for your enormous support of the Sodalitas
Latinitatis, now accepting members until July 21. Here is
the information on joining once again:

If you wish to become a member you should sign up by going
to

http://www.egroups.com/group/latinitas

and subscribing to that list.

You should then send a message to that list saying that you
wish to be a member.

You will get your confirmation of membership 1) by seeing
your message appear on the list, and 2) after July 21 you
will receive a Sodalitas voter code to enable you to take
part in voting.

Remember that if you are not a citizen, you must state that
at the time of your application so that you can be put in
the correct membership category.

Membership recruitment will be frozen after July 21 until
the completion of voting, at which time further members will
be once more routinely accepted.

We welcome all interested members of the Nova Roman
community.

Valete!

I am too, actually. However, Altavista's translation utility (
http://world.altavista.com/ ) works well enough to give one the gist of
a message in Italian, French, Spanish, or German. In like manner, the
Words program ( http://lysy2.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/words.exe ) usually
does the trick for Latin.

Subject: [novaroma] Citizen images needed for Album Civium
From: Marcus Octavius Germanicus <haase@-------->
Date: Sat, 8 Jul 2000 10:33:18 -0500 (CDT)

Salvete Cives,

The new Album Civium inclues pages showing information on each individual
citizen, which can include a small portrait.

If you'd like to attach a portrait of yourself to your record, please mail
it to me (not to the list!). It should be no more than 150 x 150 pixels.
The filename should be based on your complete Roman name as shown
in the Album Civium, separated with periods, such as:

Marcus.Octavius.Germanicus.jpg
Lucius.Cornelius.Sulla.Felix.gif
Gaius.Marius.Merullus.jpg
Quintus.Fabius.Maximus.gif

Vale, Octavius.

Salve,
Having been here a few months now, I thought it would be a good idea
to start elping out, so I am offering my services as a Scribus to
anyone who needs one. For those few who may recognise the name, this
is Gaius Marius Cethegus speaking.

Long live Rome!

Subject: [novaroma] Interesting Roman site startup...
From: cassius622@--------
Date: Sat, 8 Jul 2000 18:05:39 EDT
Salvete,

I just saw a notice regarding a new Roman site that is apparently in the
works...
www.romansoldier.com

The site is apparantly a "place holder" for a new Roman movie that's in the
works. From the graphics on the site it looks like a professional firm has
been hired to do the website itself. Sadly, everything is "under heavy
construction" so none of the links are working as yet.

This might be just a dud that isn't going to see the light of day, but it
might be the beginning of a new Roman trend. Definitely worth keeping tabs on!

Valete,

Marcus Cassius Julianus
