Salve!

Tibi gratias ago, Cassius. :) I am quite excited about this opportunity, I
am looking forward to the work so that I may assist in restoring the ancient
faith. May Apollo smile upon my efforts.

I thank you all again for your most welcome wishes. The Surgeon has
changed the bandages and pronounced the wound healing well. It is about
a 4--6 inch incision on the bottom of my left foot with about 8-10
stitches, The major bone in the little toe has been removed, and I am
still confined to bed except for a few minutes each day. The previous
infection seems to have been erradicated, but the Surgeon is maintaining
a close observation, because of the previous massive infection requiring
the bone removal. The previous schedule of three weeks to being able to
put my full weight upon the wound without assistance is still in force.
I am obeying my doctor's to the letter, as each have indicated to me, at
my insistance, very good reasons for my doing so, which was a pleasant
surprise. I have a great deal of faith in the ability of these
gentlemen, which in all honesty, I could not say of previous physcians
who have attended me!!

As the days go by, I will be able to spend more and more time with you,
as the wound heals. I ask for your indulgence until then.

Respectfully;
Jim Mathews
