Has you have -surely- read already, I have quitted the new version because
of those and other reasons, leaving future ammendments as the responsibility
of the future Tribuni soon to be ellected.
Still, I keep that my intention was to improve.

I rule a province, keeping colaboration with archaeologists, presenting Nova
Roma at the 3rd Peninsular Archeology Congress.
I have been Aedilis Plebis, having run the Ludi, added a page on the Games,
etc.
Is this enough for experience?

showed wisdom and diligence) >will repair to mistakes of this unable

This unable magistrate has accomplished more than you did.

Do you know one thing? I have never run for a senior office before because I
didn't feel experienced enough.

Dear Lvcivs Annevs LAVRENTIVS,

Your English is just fine, there's no need to apologize!!
I am sure that everyone is quite happy that Nova Roma has
citizens in non-English speaking countries.

I congratulate you that you can write so well in English.
I spend the entire day speaking, reading, and writing in
language that is not native to me, so I do know how you
feel!!
Bright Blessings from Antwerpen, Belgica

Salvete,

While I cannot be called the most outstanding supporter of the
Nova Roman government, I do know that dissin the government is
frowned upon (at least on the main list).

So for all those with even an iota of disdain for the government, I
urge you to join the Via Trames (yes, the Latin has already been
criticized, as if I cared). Unlike the Back Alley (which while not
dead is awaiting a big enough boo-boo to spring back to life <G>)
the Via Trames is open to all. There are one or two government
officials on the list, but that just makes things that more
interesting. Neither founder is there, but the eyes and ears of one
are :-P.

I would volunteer the Via Trames for political "discussion"
especially for the children who cry "FOWL" at the proposed
legislation requiring them to grow up and gain experience before
playing hardball. Someday there may be legislation which requires
you, regardless of age, to be a citizen of Nova Roma for perhaps as
long as 5 years before you may run for office (with the "exceptions"
that always pop up in the law around here, should a major city
mayor or governor join us). May as well join now and avoid the
rush.

And of course all information on the Nova Roma First Born and his
sister are posted there (you didn't honestly think I would pass up
THAT opportunity, did you??????).

So join us and there your bitching, moaning, crying and
complaining will be received with scorn, laughter and criticism. No
holds barred.

Salve Luci Anne Laurenti et omnes

No, my friend! It was deserved! =)

>Two days ago in an email Gryllus sustained his candidacy saying in short
that he's the only prepared >and EXPERIENCED (I'm not experienced, he's
right, but this isn't true for the other candidates for >Praetor) candidate,
I did that because I have waited more than 1 year before running for a
senior magistracy, while the majority of the candidates are running for
Praetor as their 1st time.

>that the other ones only follow their nose...
Hey! I didn't remember I said this! Gush! Yes I did! Sorry! =)

>well, maybe this isn't an example of >politically correct, and >I don't

Oh! These things are daily life in Lusitania =)
And I'm sure they were so (even worse) in ancient Roma.

same...) to make propaganda while elections are on; in fact I >haven't seen

You are quite right. A law is needed. Voting in the normal way lasts but a
day. Here we have a longer period which we must regulate.

>but maybe he should considerate that one thing is archaeology, and another
one is politics, that >requires different virtues and that has

in politics.
Well, that is up to the people to judge...

you think to have been >offended by me, then I'm sorry, probably I've been
too impulsive (this is one of the sins of the Youth, >right?:) ), but it was
not my intention to offend you or anyone else.
No need for apologee. In fact I was going to send you a "Congratulations"
email for the way you have presented your arguments =). I was not offended
at all! And if we win, I will be glad to work with you.

Everyone makes mistakes. I applaud your ability to criticize your own
action. In this, you share something with your opponent, Antonius Gryllus
Graecus.

LAL >But I want to explain to you, citizens, the reasons of my "attacks".
>Two days ago in an email Gryllus sustained his candidacy saying in short
that he's the only prepared and EXPERIENCED (I'm not experienced, he's
right, but this isn't true for the other candidates for Praetor)

CMM Really? What is the relevant experience of the other candidates?
When did they serve as quaestores or aediles?

LAL candidate, that the other ones only follow their nose...well, maybe
this isn't an example of politically correct, and I don't know if things
like this happen usually in Lusitania, but here in Italia I've never seen
nothing of this gender about political campaign.

CMM Graecus' political campaign messages have always been colorful. It's
pretty hard for me to take seriously the "accusation" that other candidates
have been "following their noses". On the other hand, such slogans are good
for a chuckle, especially for the reader who is not one of the other
candidates :). Please, don't make a big deal out of a funny campaign
message.

LAL >Anyway, I could accept this message before the voting started, but I
don't think it's permissible in a CIVIL Republic (the problem is still the
same...) to make propaganda while elections are on; in fact I haven't seen
any candidate (except Gryllus) supporting his candidacy in this lapse of
time: I think we need a law even about this point.

CMM So you want to legislate against political campaigning? And how will
the voters choose among you unknown candidates, Luci Annee? Shall we draw
your names from a hat?

By the way, I must have accidentally deleted your reply to my questions
about your intentions for the office of praetor. The only candidate whose
response I saw is Graecus. Thank you, Antoni Grylle, for that.

>Ah, last thing: thanx to all citizens who said to appreciate however my
English in spite of mistakes, and my apologies for those to Quintus Fabius
Maximus.

Your English is fine, very readable and understandable. Much, much better
than I could do in Italian nowadays.
