For any of the Civs who are interested there is a Revolutionary War
Event at Monmouth Battlefield Park in New Jersey this weekend. We are
making last minute packing arrangements and will depart in the next few
minutes.

Anyone in NR, in the area who have no particular plans might wish to
come out for a day and visit. You will find me in the British Camp
either with the British Engineers or the Black Watch (42nd Regiment of
Foot). It has been a great show for the public in the last several
years, so it is well worth seeing.

It would be an opportunity to visit face to face with some NR friends as
well. Ask for Ian McKay as Jim Mathews and Marcus Audens will not be
attending (<Grin>).. I hope that some NR people will show up to take
advantage of this opportunity.

Marcus Audens

Hey Sweetie (Ericius),

I'm actually thinking about doing San Francisco Pride next year. I sometimes
go up to Toronto, Chicago, or stay here in New York (this year). But next
year just may be San Fran.

You won't walk with me? Even if I promise to butch it up for you?

This post of Mine had nothing to do with any type of computer, calculator, abacus, book
magazine, automobile, etc. It was regarding behavioral matters.

What a relief! When I saw your subject line I thought you were opening up the next Nova
Roma election campaign or bringing up offshore drilling. Hehe. Now we know what you are
sensitive about. Not knowing a blasted thing about them (puters or petroleum rigs) it has
always struck me as overhearing an emotional discussion about donuts.

The garum I've come across is very salty. In fact it is made from salted anchovies. Does
anybody know of a "low salt" garum (a.k.a. nuoc mam, Asian fish sauce). I would
experiment more with the garum I have except that I do not use salt.

Go Blues!

It's not that Dex. I just don't want to cramp your style. Why should you spend the prime
time with some gimpy, old, fat, straight guy with tickley beard. I've marched before, but
I ain't marching anymore. The Gods being willing, maybe we can get a number of NRs
together for "something". [wink] Of course I realize that we'd have to reserve a spot in
your crammed date book. The guests here for the parade do not seem to have any down
time. Last year I saw a bunch of folks on their way to a Uniform Party. But you should
have made it this year, Cross Dressing is a featured theme. I wanted to see if you really
did have a gold lamee toga. (Of course if I have a toga next year...) Nuf sed.

Vale.

Ignosce moram.

The idea of keeping the non English speakers informed about NR issues is
strategic. I wonder why are the NR citizens in Brasil so unactive. All of
them have an interest, I could affirm, in Rome or in the gods, but the great
majority run dismotivated when they realize that the Institutions of Nova
Roma are so far away from the Provincia. This distance is geographic,
because most of the magistracies, the Consules and the Senatus is occupied
by people that live in another country, even if these person see each other
very seldom. There is also a cybernetic distance involved in the subject. As
we know, we can go everywhere in the cyberspace and the only limitation is
the language. If you know well a foreign language you can navigate
everywhere, read newspapers, participate of on-line chats, write and read
postings.

So, if we could minimize that second barrier, i.e. the language, we would
have more active members in Provincia Brasiliensis. Well, how? Primo, it is
necessary to have in mind that every brazilian that is inscribed at NR knows
English ( of course in different levels, very well or macaronic). It is fast
impossible to find a brasilian user of Internet that cannot understand some
Englisch. The problem is that, when the just inscribed citizen lurks on the
list or such they can't understand very much of what is being discussed
there. Allthough from time to time some debate of general interest arises,
most of the messages contains jokes, and certain subjects (to be silent
about the north american slang) that are related to an specific comunity,
the English speaker comunity. So if we could select points of general
interest (obviously, a conception to be discussed), form a digest,
translate it and send to the members in PBra, we could have an answer (even
if a "stop this posting" one).

The second thing is to create a Provincia in Brazil. There is any actually.
And here my mea culpa: we have to build institutions, relationships and
bridges (help Minuci!) between ourselves, so that more and more citizens
leave the silence and come to the public life, so dear to us Romans. I can't
do this alone, but if assisted I could
try. Some of my projects are (or were): create a lusophone list for Brasil
and Portugal; build a page for Nova Roma in Brasil, with much information
about our beliefs (that would be very atractive!). But I don't know ANYTHING
about page making and nor have the time to learn it. As for the lusophone
list , I would ask my friend Antonius Gryllus to expose his valuation about
the idea.

May Apollo Saurokthonos, to whom the sun so dear ist, bless this sunny
Provincia Brasiliensis!
May the Capitoline Triad bless Nova Roma!

Valete!
