Easy Dex, Easy!! I think that T.B. is referring to the meeting that e
had at Claudia Faia's house in Salem last winter, and the almost meeting
that we were planning in Boston. There may have been a third meeting
earlier, but I believe that you had conflicts for the last two mentioned
above.

Salvete, Quirites.

What Cypria has brought to our attention is a grave matter indeed. It is a
serious attack on the Roman Religion, the Roman People, and the Roman State,
and it cries out for action. However, I believe that it would be
counterproductive for us to react angrily, for this would only confirm the
misguided in their belief that we are dangerous. Now, please do not
misconstrue this statement, for I do not mean to imply that this is what
Cypria had in mind. Rather, I have something in mind that I believe will
well serve our purpose.

The one sure way to extingush darkness is with light. If Christians would
blame pagans, then let us then show them that we too can turn the other
cheek, that we too can love our neighbors although they may believe
differently from us. Perhaps then, if there is any wisdom within them, they
will pause wonder why they are troubled by the splinter in their neighbor's
eye when they have a timber in their own!

I have this day received the following forwarded message from a student from
Littleton, Colorado:

> To everyone that reads this:
>
> My name is Jayson Martin from Littleton, Colorado, I would like for
> anyone who reads this to please write their name down. I would like
> to send prayers out to my friends who were in Columbine H.S. I would

> involved in this terrible tragedy. it is something that has hurt me
> today as well as my friends, I'm grateful for my safety and their
> safety. Please Forward this to as many people as you can, let us all
> come together and pray that this tragedy ends soon. Thank you.

This is what I suggest: sign this message with your name, either birth or
self-declared or both, followed by your position within whatever
organization to which you belong, and of course the organization (e.g., if
you are simply a citizen of Nova Roma, declare it), followed by your
religious pre--------nce. Then, mail this message to <a hre--------post/novaroma?protectID=246154192098082031138218061036129208" >Special@-------- and cc
me. Please do this by the Kalends of Maius (May 1). I will then do what I
can to see to it that our list of names makes it back to Jayson Martin.

Avete!

I know I'm a little late joining this thread. I live in northern Illinois,
on the Wisconsin border about 100 miles northwest of Chicago. The I-90
tollway is convinient to my home, and I would like to meet other Romans,
perhaps a trip the the Field Museum in Chicago later this spring? Or a
dinner get together?

Subject: Freak Day '99
From: Dexippus@--------
Date: Mon, 26 Apr 1999 13:53:02 EDT
Ok folks...This is un-related to NR (ok...kill me!) but like last year - you
are all invited! And since there's more of us this year, maybe some of you
will make it!

The annual Diva Freak Day at Six Flags Great Adventure (in Jackson, NJ) will
be held on Tuesday May 25! For those of you who do no know what I am talking
about...the Diva Great Adventure Freak Day is an event some of my more
avantgarde friends have devised over the past few years. It now draws about
100+ goths, punks, vamps, drag queens, leather-men, dead-heads, and other
"not-the-norm" individuals.

We usually begin with a Freak-Meet in the parking lot at about 10:00am! Just
look for the "FREAKS" dancing on the cars, waving flags, smoking and/or
drinking "coca-cola" ("No Mr. Parksman, there's no alcohol in this!").

Once in the park, you are on your own...segregate into your own little band
of freaks or go it alone. Ride the rides, eat the food, stare into the sunny
sky. There are usually some "Freak Meets" throughout the day at designated
areas for photo ops (this year we're meeting at the Bumper Cars at 3:00pm).

Just a bit of history...last year it took the group as a whole 2 full hours
to get through the security gates - with all the body piercings, and
metal-clad leather jackets, it was quite a scene. Two years ago, we turned
the water in the Log Flume Ride a shade of green-brown from all the Cool-Aid
hair dye, and face make-up people were wearing.

As a rule of thumb...dress is up to you. Though black, leather, or anything
out of the ordinary is encouraged. Some even bring along a few different
outfits to change during the course of the day (gotta make an appearance, ya
know). You don't have to be full-outrageous to have a good time. (this year
we are asking everyone to keep black trench-coats at home!)

If you need to respond to this e-mail, please do so only to me as not
everyone wants to receive chain-mail on this. For more information on the
event, go to http://www.crystal.palace.net/~timberlou/freakday.html or scroll
down to read more about the event. (this isn't a by-invite only
event...anyone can come, whether friend or stranger...so pass it along!).
For more information on other Freak Day events, please check out Tananda's
web page at http://www.black-pages.net/freakevents/

I would be in favor of this. I think this would be a good thing for Nova
Roma overall. Being able to put a face with a name is always a good thing
especially if we are all supposed to be fellow citizens (even if this is
supposed to be "just" a macro-nation over the internet). I think having a
Roman style dinner would be a fabulous idea (one I would be willing to help
out with even if I cannot claim any previous experience with ancient style
cooking). Kind of in line with this idea is a question I posed to one of the
Ancient Sites bb's, does any one know of any good books or sources for Roman
furniture? I am interested in looking into making some of their couches,
etc, but am sadly in need of drawings or something of that ilk. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

I think that's a marvelous idea!
