Well, I don't know if it is appropriate, knowing nothing of the military
-- or boys for that matter -- but it would, of course, be appreciated and
warmly received. My guts and my ultrasound tell me the baby will be a
boy (ultrasounds can be rather, um, obvious about boys).

My Bios family and I are not overly close and his father would just as
soon he never be born (one reason I feel the need to protect him even in
the womb -- there have been....incidents). It warms me considerably to
know that my Gift (Lapis) will have some good men in his life (however
limited through cyberspace) to help guide him. Perhaps I am old
fashioned, but I think boys need good male role models (bless Michael
Jordan, but to me he just doesn't cut it). I have been a bit concerned
about raising a son alone. Terry just seems easier, being a girl.

Now ya done done it!!! I'm all weepy eyed!!!! :-) To think that people
who know me only from posts care about my son more than his own
father............

I don't know how to thank, or repay or if any of it is even necessary.

Well I guess it is appropriate!!!! You will have to excuse my manner,
as I tend to think in terms of women on pedestals and men in the
trnches, however much I would ike to reverse that idea!

In my world, "one neer stands so straight as when one stoops to help a
boy (girl)" I have been a member of the Boy Scouts of America man and
boy for about 38 years, and I tend to think in terms of young men and
young women as being far more capable than they are given credit for.

I would be most happy to forward the ring as a token of my esteem for
yourself and your children. It may be a lucky charm in the years to
come should the gods bless the offering, and at very least a token of my
admiration for the Nova Roma Firstborn. I'm sure tat Dex will have a
comment that is funny and outrageous for this gift whch is all to the
good. My humour tends to be a little heavy.

If you will provide me with an address to which the gift can be sent, I
will be happy to forward it.

Vale Roman!

Most statues representing women in Roman dress show something
which is fairly clearly a piece of cord. No doubt fancier things would
have been used for special occasions, but for my own Roman costume I
went for a length of ordinary light-weight cord.

No need of reversals. The only time I find myself on a pedestal is when
a light bulb needs to be changed....sigh.

HUMPH!!!! Dex wants to eat my children!!!! Then I am sure that there
will be days ahead when I will be tempted to serve them up!!!! :-)

I don't see heaviness in your humour. Then, my humour has gotten a but
dark itself these days. My fellow Romans are bringing a good bit of
light to me.

The address is in a separate email. Can't have Dex nibbling on the child
before I am done baking him, can I?? :-)

Should anyone else want or need my address, just ask. I should send it
to someone anyway, as it has changed since I became a Citizen. Who do I
give it to??

Sorry, ma'am. VA FileManager spoiled me for anything else. Pointers
point; help prompts are helpful; and there is such a thing as a
multiple field!!! (In Access, if a certain field--say, Citizen's
e-mail address--has more than one answer--say, home and work
accounts--you have to create a complete new record for that Citizen to
accommodate the variant information. That Citizen will be listed twice
now: once for the home e-mail, once for the one at work, which will
throw off your census badly. In FileManager (which runs in UNIX), you
can have more than one entry in a field, and it all stays together
under one record.)

You are quite welcome. I have the future in sight as well as the
present. The Legions must have good men, well born, and who appreciate
and Love Rome.

I would think that the Consul would know where to send your address. He
has yet to answer me about my Roman Name, so maybe we will both hear
something.

Bearing in mind that I know what was being done here, and that it wasn't
entirely serious in intent, I did want to chime in.

Metellus was among the Founding Fathers of the nacent Republic, having the
honor and distinction of being the only person who, before all of the
Patrician gentes were taken, specifically asked to be placed among the ranks
of the Plebians. Before my untimely resignation from the Consulship, Metellus
had intended (as far as I know) to run for the Tribuneship, and only took the
position of Consul to fill in for my absence.

I can think of no one better suited, or more deserving, of the office of
Tribune than Metellus.

Vale,

Flavius Vedius Germanicus
